We have been enjoying the city of Calgary this past week while also trying to plan a return ride home or at least down to Montana where we could catch a train back to Portland. However, finding a route that had places to stay, good roads with wide shoulders and/or low traffic volume, while being mindful of weather conditions (especially headwinds), has proven to be impossible at this time of year. And so, we are realizing that, for now, this phase of our Canadian ride is coming to a close. We have thoroughly enjoyed ride across the western portion of this wonderful country: the friendliest people and the most spectacular scenery. We are a bit sad to say have completed the ride so soon.
However, we will stay awhile in Calgary and explore this city and do a couple of area bike rides: One out south of town through some great reserves and parks; and, another back in the Rockies along the Kananskis Parkway. check out our blogs on those two rides.
Finally, to anyone who knows us, understands there will be more rides in the future, so stay tuned as we continue to explore our world at the pace of a bike!
