The St. Lawrence River is massive! We started today’s ride with a ferry crossing from the southern to the northern side of the river. I don’t recall ever seeing a river so wide. The river runs from the Great Lake and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It’s no wonder why it’s considered one of North America’s pivtol trade routes and a key part of the history of Canada and the United States. Once we crossed the river, we headed north and rode about 50 miles to Trois Riviera. The ride included a beautiful section of the King’s Road which is a designated bike route that extends from just north of Montreal to Quebec City. The route takes you through pristine country and through quaint Quebec towns. It was a pretty smooth ride today with a nice tailwind and no real hill to speak of the terrain is almost opposite of what we experienced a few months ago riding through Patagonia. We did have one slight incident due to a road closure, but we were able to navigate around it by riding through a farmer’s field on a rough dirt road. Tomorrow we continue north along the King’s Road.
